ACA President’s Corner

        President—Dean Sandmire

Well here we are—it’s 2018 and I am very pleased to represent you as President of your Alpine Coach Association.  I know it sounds quaint to say, but it seems like just yesterday Jan and I were sitting in a shiny, new 2003 Alpine coach at a dealer in Rockport TX.  We were wondering: “should we really do this?”  That was a little over 16 years and 175,000 miles ago, and sometimes we still can’t believe we did “this.”  For us, belonging to the ACA has been, and continues to be, a great adventure—one we might have missed had we not joined the “Alpine Nation.”

It would be an understatement to say our Association has changed over the years.  Starting with the factory closure in 2008, and in spite of a couple organizational spats along the way, we have managed to stay together and continue to enjoy each other’s company.   Along with our coaches, we Alpine owners seem to be a pretty well-built bunch—allowing us to continue enjoying the RV life-style, and the fellowship and technical support our Association provides.

Jan and I are looking forward to seeing our Alpine friends, old and new, in 2018.  In addition to the Quartzsite Desert Rat Rally in January, the ACA pre-rally in Pine Mountain GA and the FMCA National Rally in Perry GA in March; we hope to add more travel opportunities like the July FMCA rally in Gillette WY and a Fall ACA Heritage rally—yet to be determined.  So, check your travel schedules and come join us along the way, if you can.   In closing, we hope all of you have a great 2018—be safe out there!
